NMMC to Empower Women in Mining Industry

Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC) is dedicated to empowering women, as stated by Ra’no Kosimova, Head of the Organisational Development Department.

Kosimova made this statement during a session on women in the mining industry at the International Mining and Metallurgical Forum of Uzbekistan.

Sabokhat Nazarova, head of the women’s community at NGMK, added that the company is implementing the principles of gender equality and promoting women’s rights.

She emphasised, “We are committed to meeting the needs of women working at the company, such as equal access to training and professional development.” NGMK partnered with IWiM, an international non-profit organisation advocating for gender equality in the mining industry, in August.

The company emphasised that this cooperation allowed it to establish links with Kazakh and Kyrgyz companies. Regional collaboration will help achieve gender equality in the mining industry in Central Asia.

Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that the share of women in public administration reached 35% at the beginning of spring 2024.
