President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has expressed readiness to provide war-affected Palestinian children and women with free treatment in Uzbek clinics. The head of Uzbekistan said this in his speech at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit.

He emphasised the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the creation of safe humanitarian corridors and the start of negotiations, calling for constant attention to these issues by the UN and the Security Council.

The President said the Palestinian people have the right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders and expressed support for the Global Alliance for a Two-State Solution initiated by Saudi Arabia. To prevent a humanitarian crisis, he suggested expanding international assistance to Palestine and Lebanon, particularly by supporting the work of the Special Agency and other United Nations institutions.

He also suggested discussing practical assistance to the people of Palestine at next year’s Gulf Arab States-Central Asia summit in Samarkand.

He also noted the importance of preserving Jerusalem’s holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and other cultural monuments.
