ACWA Power to Build 2 Million kWh Energy Storage Systems in Uzbekistan

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power signed an agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy to develop energy storage systems with a total capacity of 2 mln kWh, the ministry announced.
The project will require $1.1 bln in investments and create over 1,000 jobs during construction.
In the first stage, ACWA Power will study Uzbekistan’s energy system. The company will use the findings to identify regions and select sites for the storage facilities.
ACWA Power’s current projects in Uzbekistan include solar and wind power plants and green hydrogen production at the Fergana Refinery.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan signed a strategic partnership agreement on green energy.
