Deputies in Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis approved a draft law allowing prisoners to communicate with their families through video calls.

The bill amends the Penal Enforcement Code, giving inmates the option to use video links for remote communication with relatives. The frequency of calls will depend on their detention conditions and sentencing regime.

Lawmakers believe this initiative will support prisoners in reconnecting with society after their release.
