Number of VAT Payers in Uzbekistan Increases by 5.7%
As of January 1, 2025, Uzbekistan had 201,000 VAT payers, marking a 5.7% annual increase, according to the State Tax Committee.
One-third of all VAT payers operate in trade, while just under a quarter are engaged in agriculture.
The information and communication technology sector, along with transport, showed the highest growth in VAT payers, increasing by 15.2% and 13.4%, respectively.
Tashkent leads in the number of VAT payers, with 47,800 registered enterprises. Over the year, their number in the capital rose by 9.8%. Tashkent region ranked second with a 9.7% increase, followed by Navoi region with 7.6% growth.
The lowest growth in VAT payers was recorded in Kashkadarya, Jizzakh region, and Karakalpakstan.
Both local and foreign companies in Uzbekistan pay VAT. Individual entrepreneurs are also required to pay VAT if their annual income exceeds 1 bn soum.
