Uzbekistan and Oman Strengthen Economic and Diplomatic Ties

On February 24, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, to discuss the future of bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation in key sectors.
Expansion of trade and investment cooperation
During the meeting, the Omani minister conveyed a personal message and warm greetings from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to President Mirziyoyev. The two leaders focused on strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of trade, economy, and investment. Both parties acknowledged the growing number of joint ventures and the increased trade turnover, which reflects the expanding ties between Uzbekistan and Oman.

Efforts to increase business contacts and interdepartmental collaboration were also highlighted. Omani and Uzbek businesses are regularly engaging through various events and initiatives, contributing to the development of both economies.
Investment opportunities and future initiatives
Special attention was given to expanding the portfolio of the joint investment company. Both leaders discussed new projects aimed at furthering economic cooperation.
A joint business forum and the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission will be held in April 2025, offering further opportunities for dialogue and partnership.

Cultural, humanitarian, and regional collaboration
The discussions also touched on the importance of fostering deeper cultural and humanitarian ties, alongside the development of inter-parliamentary relations. Establishing direct air communication was another significant topic addressed, with both sides agreeing on the potential benefits of direct flights between their capitals.
Moreover, the two leaders exchanged views on regional issues, particularly the upcoming Central Asia-Gulf Cooperation Council summit in May 2025. This event, scheduled to take place in Samarkand, will further solidify the regional collaboration between Central Asia and the Gulf states.
