Number of Iranian Tourists in Uzbekistan Triples

Uzbekistan saw a sharp rise in visitors from Iran at the start of 2025, with 2,900 Iranian nationals travelling to the country in January and February — a 3.4-fold increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from the State Statistics Committee.
Business trips accounted for the majority of arrivals, with over 2,200 Iranian visitors entering the country for work-related purposes. Around 630 tourists came for leisure, while 24 visited family members.
The State Committee for Tourism forecasts a strong year for the sector, expecting Uzbekistan to welcome 12 mln international visitors and 23 mln domestic travellers. Authorities also aim to raise the export value of tourism services to $3.5 bn.
To further boost tourism, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed a series of cultural initiatives, including organising concerts and festivals across six major tourism hubs. The goal is to attract an additional one million tourists through these events.
