Alisher Usmanov Joins Russia’s Top Ten Richest People

Billionaire Alisher Usmanov ranks ninth on Forbes Russia’s 2025 list of the wealthiest individuals in the country. The publication has included a total of 146 billionaires in its rankings this year.
Forbes estimates Usmanov’s net worth at $16.7 bn, marking a $3.3 bn increase over the past year. Since 2022, the billionaire of Uzbek origin has lived in Tashkent. In an interview with Corriere Della Sera, Usmanov revealed that he is still actively challenging sanctions.
At the top of the list is Russian oil magnate Vagit Alekperov, whose fortune is valued at $28.7 bn. Following him are Alexey Mordashov and Leonid Mikhelson, with net worths of $28.6 bn and $28.4 bn, respectively.
Forbes bases its rankings on factors such as the value of assets and personal property held by the billionaires, with the market capitalisation of their companies also taken into account.
