Uzbekistan has been unanimously elected as a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission for the term 2026 to 2029, according to the State Committee on Statistics.

Established in 1947 under the UN Economic and Social Council, the Statistical Commission plays a central role in coordinating global data collection, supporting the development of national statistical systems and setting international standards. The body also advises other UN institutions and facilitates the exchange of expertise among countries.

The commission comprises 24 member states elected for four-year terms. Four seats are allocated to representatives from the Asia-Pacific region.

«Uzbekistan’s membership in the UN Statistical Commission opens new opportunities to contribute to shaping global statistical policy and to share our national experience and reform achievements,» the State Committee said.
