Trump expects free transit for American ships

The United States is demanding free passage through Egypt’s Suez Canal for its ships, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
US President Donald Trump made this demand during a conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The United States also sought el-Sisi’s support in combating Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
However, Egypt’s president rejected Trump’s request and suggested that the best way to stop Houthi attacks on transport ships is to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Reports indicate the US has threatened Egypt with cuts to economic aid.
