EBRD Allocates $250 Mln to Modernise Uzbekistan’s Irrigation System

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide $250 mln to upgrade 110 irrigation pumping stations across Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The agreement was signed during the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF-2025). In addition to upgrading pumping equipment, the loan will fund modernisation of related infrastructure and installation of solar panels on station buildings.

The project is expected to save 251,000 kWh of electricity annually and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 117,000 tonnes per year.

The ministry added that the EBRD’s portfolio in Uzbekistan includes 181 projects worth €5.6 bn.

Earlier, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that TIIF-2025 saw the signing of agreements totalling $30.5 bn.
