The Criminal Court of Shaykhantakhur District in Tashkent has sentenced former deputy Kabul Dusov to five years and two months in a general-regime penal colony.

The court found Dusov guilty of defamation, insult, and spreading false information about five individuals. These include the head of the Secretariat at the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, officials from the Navoi regional education department, and a probation officer in Chirchiq.

According to the ruling, Dusov used Facebook and Telegram accounts he created to publish offensive and inaccurate content. The charges fall under Articles 139, 140, and 237 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.

Taking into account prior sentences handed down by the Chilanzar, Yashnabad, and Arnasay district courts, the judge issued a final ruling of five years and two months of imprisonment.

Authorities have ordered the closure of Dusov’s social media accounts. The victims have been informed of their right to seek compensation for moral and material damages through civil proceedings.

Dusov may appeal the decision in accordance with established legal procedures.

Earlier, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that Dusov had received a one-year restriction of freedom for insulting a deputy minister.
