Elon Musk Announces Plans to Launch Political Party

Elon Musk has confirmed his intention to form a new political party, following the results of an online poll he conducted on X. The American billionaire said the party aims to challenge the current two-party system and block costly or disadvantageous legislation.

Musk stated that the new political force could secure two to three seats in the US Senate and up to ten in the House of Representatives. This, he believes, would be enough to make the party’s voice decisive in key debates between Republicans and Democrats.

He first floated the idea after a public disagreement with US President Donald Trump. Musk promised to found a new party if Congress approved the president’s bill on tax benefits and the national budget, a document he has publicly criticised as pushing Americans into «debt slavery».

On US Independence Day, Musk launched an online vote asking whether Americans wanted a new political party. More than 1.2 mln users participated, with 65% voting in favour of the initiative.

Despite the strong response, many Republican supporters have urged Musk to abandon the idea, warning that a new party could split the conservative vote and hand the Democrats an advantage in the 2026 elections.
