On July 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Alexander Dyukov, Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom Neft, to review prospects for expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector. The talks focused on the implementation of a detailed roadmap aimed at deepening strategic partnership with the Russian energy giant.

The discussions centred on new joint efforts, including geological exploration, the development of complex hydrocarbon fields, and the digital transformation of the industry. Training programmes for highly skilled professionals were also highlighted as a priority area for future collaboration.

Gazprom Neft, a subsidiary of Russia’s Gazprom, has a long-standing relationship with Uzbekistan. In recent years, Gazprom has supplied natural gas to Uzbekistan and participated in a number of upstream and midstream projects. In 2023, Gazprom began gas exports to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan under a trilateral agreement, marking a key step in regional energy integration.

The cooperation roadmap now under way is expected to bring concrete results in both resource development and energy security.

Kursiv also reports that Russia has ratified a renewed protocol on oil and petroleum product trade with Kazakhstan.
