On July 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Jizzakh region to inspect progress at the Zaamin Technopark, a special industrial zone launched on his initiative in June 2023.

The large-scale project, covering 400 hectares, is being developed in partnership with Chinese investors and will include 31 investment projects worth a combined $1.2 bn. Over the past year, essential infrastructure has been completed and production facilities constructed.

The first enterprise in the technopark, a $10 mln concrete product plant launched by China’s Xinjiang Honglin Tiandi, has already begun operations, employing 60 people. The second project, valued at $42 mln, is nearing completion. It will produce 300,000 units of household electrical appliances annually under the Midea brand and create 150 new jobs.

During his visit, President Mirziyoyev was presented with detailed information on current and upcoming initiatives. Nine projects have been launched in the technopark’s first development phase. Construction is ongoing on seven more projects with a total investment of $300 mln. These include production of construction materials, metal structures, electrical and chemical goods, along with the establishment of logistics and training centres.

Once fully operational, the technopark is expected to generate around 5 trln UZS ($396.7 mln) worth of industrial output annually, introduce 15 new products to the domestic market and achieve $70 mln in export potential. It will provide employment for over 5,000 people.

The president instructed officials to accelerate project implementation, provide comprehensive support to investors and prioritise the training of qualified specialists, especially young people, to meet the needs of new industries.
