Telegram may soon launch a user rating system within its platform. According to Durov’s Code, users will be able to view their account level by tapping a special icon in the interface. A notification will then appear stating, «Profile level reflects the reliability of the user’s payments,» along with a link to an article about Telegram Stars.

The feature is currently being rolled out gradually on a test server.

While the full purpose of the rating system remains unclear, there are several likely scenarios. Firstly, it may be used to indicate a user’s payment activity or trustworthiness, potentially granting access to additional features, the higher the rating, the more benefits available to the account holder.

Secondly, the system will likely be influenced by the purchase, gifting or use of Telegram Stars. Reports suggest that for every 1,000 Stars, a user’s rating will increase.

The new feature may also be tied to upcoming limitations, such as possible caps on the number of gifts a user can buy within the messenger app.

Telegram has not yet announced an official release date for the rating system or confirmed how it will impact user experience long term.

Kursiv also reports that Telegram founder Pavel Durov has shared that he has gone twenty years without alcohol, tobacco, coffee, medication or drugs.
