Mosinzhproekt and Dogus Holding to Build 21 km Metro Line in Tashkent

Russian engineering company Mosinzhproekt will take part in designing and constructing a new metro line in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, according to a representative from the New Tashkent district construction directorate.
$110 Million Investment for Nine-Station Line
The project, valued at around $110 mln, involves building a 21-kilometre metro line with nine stations over a two-year period. The route will combine both underground and overground sections.
Mosinzhproekt will partner with Turkish conglomerate Dogus Holding for the works. The Russian Trade Mission in Uzbekistan had previously confirmed that Russian firms were keen to participate in the broader New Tashkent development project.
Part of Tashkent’s Long-Term Urban Plan
Under the capital’s master plan extending to 2045, New Tashkent will be built in the eastern part of the city, covering an area of 20,000 hectares. The first plots, totalling 1,000 hectares, were put up for sale to developers last year.
Tashkent’s metro currently consists of four lines with 50 stations stretching over more than 70 kilometres. The network carries roughly one million passengers daily, accounting for around 40% of all public transport journeys in the city.
Kursiv also reports that the President of Uzbekistan has reviewed the newly developed Atlas of Solutions — a design and planning guide for the development of both Tashkent and New Tashkent.
