Business Activity Index in Uzbekistan up 15.9% in July 2025

In July 2025 Uzbekistan recorded a significant improvement in its Business Activity Index (BAI), which climbed by 15.9% compared with the previous month, according to the Centre for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR). On an annual basis, the index rose by 14.3%.
The strongest influence came from brand registration activity. Trademark protection sub-index surged by 51% over the month, with 468 trademarks officially registered nationwide.
The exchange component of the index also posted strong results, growing by 33.2% compared with June. The average volume of goods per transaction rose by 38.2%, while the number of trades increased by 28.2%. Turnover at the Uzbekistan Commodity Exchange reached nearly 6.7 trln UZS ($534.9 mln) in July, up 2.8% on the month.
Interbank payments showed a moderate increase of 3% in July. The total number of active enterprises saw mixed changes: 22 large businesses were added to the economy, but the number of small firms and farms declined.
Regional results were uneven. Bukhara Region led with a 47.9% jump in its BAI, followed by Surkhandarya with 42.8% and Namangan with 35.4%. In total, 11 regions recorded growth while three showed declines. Negative dynamics were observed in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm and Syrdarya.
