Uzbekistan to Broaden Cooperation with CIS, SCO and Global Partners

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reiterated Uzbekistan’s foreign policy stance, stressing that Tashkent will expand its traditional and strategic partnerships with the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Speaking at the ceremony marking the country’s 34th anniversary of independence, the president underlined that centuries-old ties of friendship and mutual trust with Central Asian nations will reach a new stage.
He added that Uzbekistan plans to focus on trade, economic and financial cooperation with the United States, Europe and other developed countries, with particular emphasis on investment and technology.
Another priority for Tashkent is the creation of transport and logistics corridors linking the country with South Asia, the Middle East and Africa along new and promising routes.
«Given the current difficult situation, we will continue to mobilise all our strength and resources to strengthen our independence, preserve peace in our country and maintain interethnic and interfaith harmony,» Mirziyoyev said.
At the same event, Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared that the country would never step back from its path of strengthening democratic reforms.
