Juventus staged a dramatic comeback in their Champions League opener on September 16, drawing 4-4 at home to Borussia Dortmund after a stoppage-time surge inspired by substitute Dusan Vlahovic. All eight goals arrived in the second half of a breathless contest at the Allianz Stadium.

The Italian side were trailing 4-2 deep into added time when Vlahovic struck his second goal of the night in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Moments later, the Serbian turned provider, delivering a cross for Lloyd Kelly to head home and complete an improbable comeback. A lengthy VAR review for offside delayed the celebrations, but once confirmed, the stadium erupted.

Vlahovic, who came on just before the hour mark, was named man of the match but admitted he had hoped for more:

«To prove yourself you always need hunger. I’m never satisfied and tonight I wanted a third goal. The important thing is we didn’t lose, so we keep moving forward,» he told Sky Sport.

The first half gave little hint of what was to come, with Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel denying Khephren Thuram’s deflected strike in the only real chance before the break. Dortmund broke the deadlock shortly after half-time when Karim Adeyemi curled a precise effort into the far corner, sparking a whirlwind of goals from both sides.

Juventus, who scored four for the second consecutive match after their 4-3 Serie A win over Inter Milan at the weekend, again looked vulnerable at the back. Coach Igor Tudor voiced frustration at his side’s defending:

«I’ve already had enough of this type of match. We are conceding too many. At least we’re scoring a lot too, but we cannot carry on like this. It was so difficult in the second half to keep the energy levels up three days after an incredibly tough match,» he told Sky Sport Italia.
