Conference in Jizzakh: Uzbekistan’s basalt industry is reaching a new level

On September 12, the company «BASALT UZBEKISTAN» held a conference in Jizzakh dedicated to the issues of norm-making and development of the basalt industry. The event brought together more than 140 participants – representatives of ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, scientific institutes, universities, as well as foreign companies.
Gathering at one table, the participants were able to discuss what hinders the development of the industry and find a solution. As many speakers noted: «We want to build stronger, warmer, and more environmentally friendly, and for this, we need to act together.»
Especially inspiring was the fact that the country’s leadership supported the initiative to develop the basalt industry. On April 18, 2025, a detailed «Roadmap» was approved for accelerating the production of basalt products and implementing international experience. This document has become a strategic guide for removing bureaucratic barriers, modernizing the industry, and bringing it to export markets.

An important conclusion of the conference is the confirmation that personal communication works better than hundreds of letters and online meetings. In Jizzakh, it was possible to agree on specific steps to implement the government’s instructions.
Among the participants were:
• Committee for Roads;
• Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services;
• Association of Industrial Construction Materials;
• Ministry of Water Resources;
• Innovation Development Agency;
• SQB Testing and R&D;
• Tashkent State Transport University;
• Automobile Roads Research Institute;
• Uzbekistan Institute of Standards.
• «Uzgiroproekt»;
• Uzsuvtaminot;
• MES.
Uzbekistan is the future center for the development of basalt technologies
The conference showed: Uzbekistan has unique opportunities to become a global center for the production and development of basalt composites. Everything is available – natural resources, state support, and a favorable geographical location. But it’s important to remember: the market won’t wait. If you don’t occupy your niche today, others will occupy it tomorrow.

New horizons of application
Basalt is capable of changing not only construction. Among the promising areas:
• Defense and aviation industry – new generation of strong and lightweight materials;
• Automotive manufacturing – composites that reduce the weight of cars and increase their reliability;
• Ecotechnologies – green construction and energy-efficient projects;
• Nanotechnology – innovative materials for medicine, electronics, and science.
• Renewable energy.
• Other consumer markets.
Conclusion
The conference in Jizzakh became not just a business event, but a starting point for the future, where the basalt industry will occupy a special place in the country’s development. Today, we see that the unification of the state, science, and business opens up opportunities for Uzbekistan not only to keep pace with global trends but also to set new tasks.
The R&D center under the Basalt Uzbekistan industrial cluster has already launched new projects, attracting the best scientists and experts in the industry. These developments will become the basis for a technological breakthrough capable of transforming «New Uzbekistan» into a global leader in the basalt composite market.

General Director (CEO) of the «BASALT UZBEKISTAN» Industrial Cluster, Abdusattarov Azim:
«Today, the industry faces a number of challenges. Despite the obvious advantages of basalt composites – durability, environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, their implementation is hindered by administrative barriers and disagreements between agencies. Because of this, innovations don’t reach road construction, housing, and infrastructure as quickly as possible.»
And there is a deep symbolism in this: historically, Uzbekistan has always been at the center of trade and Eastern civilization. Today, Basalt Uzbekistan continues this tradition – but already through innovation and technology, believing that the country will once again become a center of attraction for ideas, knowledge, and development.
