Prince Andrew is being pressed to vacate the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, with sources saying he has signalled willingness to leave if both he and his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, are allocated new residences on the Windsor estate.

Andrew has reportedly asked for Frogmore Cottage, while Sarah Ferguson is said to prefer Adelaide Cottage, currently occupied by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are expected to relocate to nearby Forest Lodge next month. A friend of the couple cautioned that palace reaction to the proposal remains uncertain.

Pressure on the Duke intensified after revelations that he paid only «peppercorn» rent for two decades and following the recent removal of his remaining titles. Buckingham Palace has long sought a voluntary exit, including cutting Andrew’s annual allowance last year.

Any move would need to address Andrew’s reported 50 years left on a prepaid lease and potential compensation for improvements to Royal Lodge. Meanwhile, political scrutiny is growing: Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has backed «proper scrutiny» of the grace-and-favour arrangement, and the National Audit Office is poised to examine the finances.

All parties, including Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace, have declined to comment publicly.
