Former EastEnders star and current Celebrity Big Brother contestant Patsy Palmer has spoken openly about her past struggles with addiction, admitting she once smoked cannabis before doing the school run.
Palmer, 52, who recently returned to EastEnders as Bianca Jackson for the soap’s 40th anniversary, reflected on her previous dependence on drugs and alcohol in her autobiography. She revealed she used to chain-smoke strong cannabis, describing moments where she felt «edgy» and «paranoid» while trying to maintain daily routines with her children.
The actress recalled hitting a low point when she skipped professional commitments to stay home watching daytime television while smoking. Palmer has since turned her life around, embracing a wellness-focused lifestyle in California and maintaining sobriety.
Now back in the public spotlight through Celebrity Big Brother, Palmer has said she hopes speaking honestly about her past helps destigmatise conversations around addiction and recovery.
