Mirziyoyev Proposes Global Social Justice Fund at Doha Summit

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the World Summit in Doha, where he proposed the establishment of a Global Social Justice Fund aimed at combating poverty and narrowing inequality across nations.

Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to supporting international efforts for sustainable development and shared details of the country’s recent social reforms. Over the past few years, Uzbekistan has achieved a remarkable reduction in poverty levels from 35% down to 6.6%, he noted.

Key Initiatives for Global Cooperation

In addition to the proposed Global Fund, the president outlined several other key initiatives, including:

  • the development of a Global Initiative on Social Responsibility and Decent Work;
  • the organisation of a summit in Uzbekistan focused on education;
  • the creation of an International Forum on the Social and Legal Protection of Migrants;
  • and the launch of a new socio-economic model for the Aral Sea region, linked to climate change mitigation and environmental recovery.

Uzbekistan’s Commitment to Global Solidarity

President Mirziyoyev emphasised that the decisions made at the summit would provide renewed confidence and hope to millions of people worldwide, contributing significantly to global stability and prosperity.

«In this regard, we fully support the Doha Political Declaration adopted today. We are ready to implement all the principles it upholds. This historic Declaration will undoubtedly strengthen our joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,» he stated.
