Uzbek blogger Saidazim Rizayev surprised actor Will Smith with a special gift — a traditional Uzbek chapan and tubeteika.
During their meeting, the blogger not only presented the elements of the national costume but also invited the Hollywood star to visit Uzbekistan and other parts of Central Asia.
Before handing over the gift, Rizayev told the actor how much Smith’s films had inspired him as a child and expressed hope that he would accept the traditional attire as a gesture of respect and friendship.
«Mr. Smith, I grew up watching all your movies. This is a great honour for me! Please take this as a sign of gratitude. I know you are the ‘Prince of Bel-Air,’ but I would be happy if you became an Uzbek prince in some sense,» the blogger told Will Smith.
The chapan and tubeteika were chosen in traditional Uzbek colours with characteristic embroidery.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reports that in Brussels, to mark Kazakhstan’s Republic Day, the famous Manneken Pis statue was dressed in a Kazakh national chapan. The ceremony was organised by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgium together with the Order of the Guardians of Manneken Pis.
