Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov hosted a delegation from New York led by Mayor Eric Adams at the city administration headquarters.

The meeting focused on key issues in urban development, with both sides sharing experiences on modernising city infrastructure and exploring potential areas of cooperation between Tashkent and New York.

Umurzakov introduced the delegation to the main directions of the «Tashkent Development Strategy until 2030», highlighting major urban and investment projects such as the «New Tashkent» initiative, the creation of the «Yangi Avlod» industrial zone, and the development of new public spaces.

Discussions also covered ongoing reforms in transport, logistics, utilities, and joint projects with international companies including Marriott, Wendy’s, Pepsi (USA), DP World (UAE), and VEOLIA (France).

Mayor Adams praised the pace of transformation in Uzbekistan and expressed admiration for the scale of changes under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership. He noted that Tashkent’s development is progressing in the right direction and opens opportunities for stronger international links.

Adams confirmed his willingness to deepen cooperation between the two cities, adding that the visit offered a chance to better understand Tashkent’s ongoing projects.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to begin drafting a partnership accord between Tashkent and New York, establishing a foundation for long-term collaboration in urban planning, culture, innovation, and the economy.
