An artificial intelligence robot gave a short dance performance for President Vladimir Putin on November 19 during a technology exhibition organised by Sberbank, Russia’s largest lender, Reuters reports. The display, broadcast on state television, showed the Russian leader facing the humanoid machine as it introduced itself before moving to what it claimed was its favourite song.
«My name is Green. I am the first Russian humanoid robot with built-in artificial intelligence. This means I am not simply a programme on a screen but a physical form of advanced technology,» the robot said.
Sberbank noted that its software will be updated continuously and that Green could eventually handle physical tasks. A pilot scheme will test the robot in selected parts of the bank’s operations.
The encounter drew careful attention from Putin’s security team. One bodyguard stepped between the president and the robot after the performance to ensure it kept a safe distance.
Putin described the routine as «very beautiful» and thanked the machine before moving on with his tour.
The demonstration followed an earlier mishap in Moscow where another Russian robot, billed as an AI-powered performer named Aidol, fell face down moments after taking the stage.
During the same exhibition, Putin also inspected a new generation of Sberbank cash machines equipped with cameras that provide customers with a brief health assessment based on ten indicators such as pulse and blood pressure. The president remarked that he had recently undergone one of his routine medical check-ups and that everything was in order.
