Uzbekistan’s national delegation joined the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics on 6 February, as athletes from around the world gathered at San Siro Stadium for the official launch of the Games.
Short track speed skater Daniil Eibog carried the national flag during the parade of nations. Uzbekistan will be represented at the Games by Eibog in the men’s 500m short track event and by alpine skier Medet Nazarov, who will compete in slalom and giant slalom.
The ceremony was attended by senior Uzbek sports officials, including Sports Minister Adkham Ikramov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Otabek Umarov, NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, and Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Italy Abat Fayzullayev.
Uzbekistan secured four Olympic quotas for the Milan–Cortina Games, which run until 22 February. However, following the dissolution of the country’s figure skating pair, the team will compete in two disciplines. The National Olympic Committee later released official photographs from the opening ceremony.
