President Donald Trump used social media during the Super Bowl to criticise Bad Bunny’s halftime performance.

«The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, ever!» Trump wrote on Truth Social. «It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children watching from across the U.S.A. and around the world. This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in history!»

He added, «There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue what is going on in the REAL WORLD. And by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!»

Earlier, as the game began, Trump posted on a more upbeat note:

«Enjoy the Super Bowl, America! Our country is stronger, bigger and better than ever before and THE BEST IS YET TO COME!»

MAGA backlash over performer

When the NFL and Apple Music announced Bad Bunny as the 2026 Super Bowl performer last September, the decision sparked immediate criticism from MAGA supporters. Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski condemned the choice and suggested ICE agents could be present at the event.

«It’s shameful they’ve picked someone who seems to hate America to represent the country at the Halftime Show,» Lewandowski said. «There are plenty of great entertainers who could bring people together, not divide them.»

The performance is the Grammy winner’s only U.S. concert appearance this year, as his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour does not stop in the States. Bad Bunny told I-D magazine that fears of ICE raids partly influenced his decision to avoid touring in the U.S.

Trump questions artist’s fame

Trump told NewsMax’s «Greg Kelly Reports» that it was «absolutely ridiculous» for Bad Bunny to perform, claiming he did not know the singer.

«I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is… I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick entertainment — I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.»

Bad Bunny, in an October interview with «SNL,» said performing at the Super Bowl was significant for Latinos and Latinas in the U.S., calling it «more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us. Our contributions and footprints in this country can never be erased.»
