Switzerland became the second team to reach the women’s curling semi-finals at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics after a hard-fought victory over Denmark on Wednesday.

The Swiss side entered the match with a strong round-robin record and sealed a 6–4 win thanks to a decisive final end, scoring three points to secure qualification for the knockout stage.

Skip Silvana Tirinzoni praised both teams after the match, describing the contest as tightly contested and highlighting the significance of reaching an Olympic semi-final.

Denmark eliminated as playoff race tightens

The defeat knocked Denmark out of semi-final contention, joining Italy and China as teams no longer in the race for the final playoff spots.

However, the remaining round-robin matches are still expected to shape the final semi-final lineup, with several teams battling for the last two positions.

Great Britain keeps hopes alive

Great Britain stayed in the playoff hunt after a pair of important victories. The defending Olympic champions edged the United States 8–7 in a dramatic finish, with skip Rebecca Morrison delivering a decisive final stone to seal the win.

Team GB followed up with a dominant 9–3 victory over Japan, improving their record and setting up a crucial final round-robin clash against hosts Italy.

The upcoming matchup could prove decisive in determining the final semi-finalists as the women’s curling competition enters its closing stages.
