Iran Warns US Forces Would be Targeted in Event of War

A senior Iranian military official has warned that U.S. troops and assets would be targeted if conflict breaks out between Washington and Tehran, amid rising tensions between the two countries.
Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, said American personnel and equipment in the region would be within range of Iranian strikes in the event of war.
«In the event of any conflict, American forces and their equipment will be destroyed,» he said, adding that U.S. interests across the region would also be targeted.
The remarks came in response to recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has warned of severe consequences if negotiations with Iran fail. Shekarchi dismissed the comments as «saber-rattling,» insisting Iran is fully prepared to respond to any military action.
He said Iran is closely monitoring U.S. and Israeli movements and would deliver a decisive response to any provocation. While stressing that Tehran does not seek war, the commander said the country would defend its interests if threatened.
Trump has recently said he prefers reaching a deal with Iran but warned that failure to do so could have serious consequences. The escalating rhetoric follows growing speculation in international media about the possibility of confrontation between the two countries.
The exchange underscores heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, where US military deployments and Iran’s regional influence continue to fuel concerns over potential escalation.
