Aston Martin to Limit Running in Australian GP Over Vibration Concerns

Aston Martin team principal Adrian Newey has said the team will significantly limit running for drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll during the Australian Grand Prix due to serious vibration problems that could cause nerve damage.
According to Newey, vibrations from the Honda power unit in the AMR26 are affecting the car’s reliability and transferring through the steering wheel into the drivers’ hands. The issue has already caused components such as mirrors and tail lights to come loose.
He said the problem is more serious for the drivers’ health. Alonso believes he cannot complete more than 25 consecutive laps without risking permanent nerve damage, while Stroll estimates his limit at around 15 laps.
The team had already endured a difficult pre-season with limited track running, raising doubts about whether the car could complete a full race distance. Newey acknowledged the team will need to restrict laps during the race until the source of the vibration is identified and resolved.
