Trump Demands Iran’s ‘Unconditional Surrender’ as Israel Expands Strikes in Lebanon

Donald Trump has demanded the «unconditional surrender» of Iran, escalating rhetoric a week after the United States and Israel launched military operations against the country.
In a post on social media, Trump said there would be «no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender,» adding that the country would later be rebuilt with the help of allies once new leadership is established.
The comments came shortly after Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, said that several countries had begun mediation efforts aimed at ending the conflict, though he did not specify which nations were involved.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces intensified military operations across the region. The Israeli military launched large-scale airstrikes on the Lebanese capital Beirut, following evacuation warnings issued to residents in the city’s southern suburbs.
Israeli officials said dozens of warplanes also carried out strikes on targets in Tehran linked to Iran’s leadership infrastructure.
The conflict has widened beyond the main battle zones. Several Gulf countries reported fresh drone and missile activity, while Israel said its air defence systems intercepted incoming Iranian projectiles.
According to Iranian authorities and humanitarian organisations, more than 1,200 people have been killed in Iran since the conflict began, while casualties have also been reported in Lebanon and Israel.
The escalating demands and expanding military operations have raised concerns among analysts that diplomatic efforts to end the conflict could become increasingly difficult.
