Heeseung will leave K-pop group ENHYPEN, his agency Belift Lab announced on Tuesday.
In a statement posted on the fan platform Weverse, the company said it had held extensive discussions with the group’s members about their future plans and the direction of the band.
«Through deep conversations about each member’s vision for the future and the team’s direction, we confirmed that Heeseung has a clear musical path he wishes to pursue,» the agency said. «After careful consideration, we decided to respect his aspirations.»
Belift Lab, a subsidiary of HYBE, said the 24-year-old singer would step away from the group, which will continue promoting as a six-member act during its upcoming activities.
«Although it is difficult to explain every detail in a short statement, we want to emphasize that this decision was made after a long period of deliberation,» the agency said, adding that the move was made with the future of both the group and the singer in mind.
The company said ENHYPEN would continue performing for its fanbase, known as ENGENE, while Heeseung remains signed to Belift Lab and prepares to release a solo album.
In a message to fans, Heeseung thanked his bandmates and supporters for their encouragement.
«Thanks to the members with whom I shared countless emotions, and to ENGENE who always filled every empty space with their support, I was able to take step after step toward a dream that once felt out of reach,» he said. «I am working hard on an album so I can meet you all again soon.»
Heeseung debuted with ENHYPEN in November 2020 after appearing on the survival audition programme I-LAND. The group entered the K-pop industry with its first release, the album BORDER : DAY ONE.
