Disney has officially announced release dates for two highly anticipated sequels, «Incredibles 3» and «Lilo & Stitch 2,» set for summer 2028, Variety reports.
During Wednesday’s shareholder call, incoming Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro revealed that the live-action «Lilo & Stitch» sequel will premiere on May 26, followed by the third installment of «The Incredibles» on June 16.
Incredibles 3
The upcoming «Incredibles» film will be directed by Peter Sohn, known for «Elemental,» marking the first time the series will continue without franchise creator Brad Bird directing. Bird will, however, remain involved as a screenwriter and producer. Returning voice actors Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter and Samuel L. Jackson are expected to reprise their roles.
While plot details remain under wraps, the first «Incredibles» film centred on the Parr family, Bob and Helen, also known as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, navigating suburban life after superpowers were outlawed. The sequel is set to explore the family’s efforts to rebuild public trust in superheroes amid a new cybercriminal threat. The first film grossed $630 mln worldwide, while its sequel earned $1.24 bn globally.
Lilo & Stitch 2
For «Lilo & Stitch 2,» Disney has not yet confirmed the cast, director, or plot details. Chris Sanders, who co-wrote and directed the original 2002 animated film, will return to write the sequel and provide the voice of Stitch.
The first live-action remake, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, was initially planned as a streaming release. Disney later shifted to a theatrical release, with the film achieving over $1 bn worldwide in 2025, making it one of three Hollywood films to reach that milestone that year. The story follows a lovable blue alien who crash-lands in Hawaii and is adopted by a young girl and her older sister.
