
Carrie Anne Fleming, a Canadian actress recognised for her work in horror series including Supernatural and iZombie, has died at the age of 51.
Her Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver confirmed to Variety that she died on February 26 in Sidney, British Columbia, due to complications related to breast cancer.
Career Spanning Film, Television And Stage
Fleming was born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Nova Scotia. She later moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where she attended Mount Douglas Senior Secondary and trained in drama at the Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Kidco Theatre Dance Company.
She began her screen career with a recurring role in the series Viper and an appearance in Adam Sandler’s film Happy Gilmore. Early in her career, she took on a series of smaller parts before gaining wider recognition when director Dario Argento cast her in his 2005 anthology Masters of Horror.
In the episode titled «Jenifer», Fleming portrayed a disfigured woman with cannibalistic tendencies, a role that cemented her presence in the horror genre. She went on to appear in other productions such as The Tooth Fairy and Bloodsuckers.
Notable Roles In Popular TV Shows
Fleming was also known for her recurring role in the CW drama Supernatural, where she played Karen Singer, the wife of Bobby Singer, portrayed by Jim Beaver.
She later appeared in the 2015 television film The Unauthorized Full House Story, which chronicled the making of the hit sitcom Full House. In the film, she played the mother of Candace Cameron Bure, who starred in the original series as DJ Tanner.
In more recent years, Fleming had a recurring role as Candy Baker in iZombie, appearing across five seasons of the show.
Alongside her screen work, she remained active in theatre, performing in British Columbia stage productions including Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet, Steel Magnolias and Fame.
Carrie Anne Fleming is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
