Customs officials in Uzbekistan have intercepted a major drug shipment in the southern Surkhandarya Region, uncovering more than 72 kilograms of hashish concealed inside imitation potatoes.

The discovery was made at the Termez-Autonomous Border Crossing during a joint operation involving customs authorities and border troops from the State Security Service.

According to initial reports, officers inspecting a truck found 222 artificial potatoes, each packed with narcotics. In total, the seized substances weighed approximately 72.3 kilograms.

Authorities believe the shipment was intended for export to another country. An investigation has been launched to determine those responsible and trace the trafficking route.
