Capcom has released the original Resident Evil and its second and third instalments on Steam. Previously, these titles were only available for PC through GOG.
Each game is priced at $10, but a limited-time 50% discount reduces the cost to $5 until April 15.
The updated editions feature technical improvements, including enhanced graphics options and support for modern controllers.
At the same time, Steam saw the release of another Capcom classic, Breath of Fire IV. Originally launched in 2000 for the PlayStation, the role-playing game has received similar upgrades and is available at the same price.
In February, Capcom also added two Dino Crisis titles to Steam, which are also on a 50% discount until April 15.
The first Resident Evil, released in 1996, is a survival horror game set in Raccoon City, where a series of gruesome murders is later linked to the Umbrella Corporation’s attempt to develop biological weapons.
Game Rankings gave the PC version a score of 80 out of 100, while GameSpot rated it 7.2 out of 10.
A «remake» of the game was released in 2002 on GameCube under an exclusive deal between Nintendo and Capcom.
