Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Behaviour Interactive have announced the shooter Serious Sam: Shatterverse, Essential Japan reported.
The project is expected to be released this year on Steam, as well as on consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
In the new installment, the main character, Serious Sam Stone, will face a new threat: Uber-Mental has shattered the boundaries between alternate realities through interdimensional manipulation.
To restore reality, different versions of Sam from other dimensions unite under the Serious Program initiative. Players will travel through changing worlds and complete battles that other versions of the hero failed to finish.
Developers noted that the gameplay is built around roguelite mechanics: after each death, new strategies and permanent upgrades are unlocked.
The arsenal includes both classic weapons from the series and new experimental guns designed to clear massive arenas filled with hundreds of enemies.
Serious Sam is a series of fast-paced first-person shooters created by the Croatian studio Croteam. The games are known for nonstop action and huge waves of enemies.
Earlier, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that a 90-year-old gamer from China completed Resident Evil 9 without hints or guides.
