Defender of the Uzbekistan national team, Abdukodir Khusanov, will not play in the friendly match against Gabon. This is due to a red card he received in the final of the Al Ain International Cup in Al Ain (UAE) in November last year.
In the decisive match, the Uzbekistan national team faced Iran. Regular time ended 0:0 — both sides had several dangerous chances, but the ball did not find the net.
In the 69th minute, Khusanov was sent off for stopping a potentially dangerous attack, leaving his team with ten men. Nevertheless, the team managed to keep a clean sheet and won the penalty shootout 4:3.
The friendly match between Uzbekistan and Gabon will take place on March 27 at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent as part of the FIFA Series. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00. The national team’s group opponents will be Venezuela, Gabon, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Earlier, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that Khusanov arrived in Tashkent on March 24 to take part in the FIFA Series matches.
