The pirate-themed adventure game Windrose has achieved a massive milestone by selling one million copies within just six days of its release.

Developed by the Uzbekistan-based studio Kraken Express, the title has quickly captured the attention of the global gaming community.

The developers expressed their immense gratitude to the growing player base after announcing that the game had reached an impressive peak of 200,000 concurrent players.
In a heartfelt statement to their community, the creators shared their emotional reaction to the game’s sudden popularity.

«While working on patches we find the time to read your reviews, note your suggestions and watch your videos and streams,» the development team wrote. «If we are being honest, sometimes we shed a single and very stern pirate tear.»

Windrose officially launched into early access on Steam on April 14 and is currently priced at $14.49 before a 10% discount is applied. By April 20 the project had already garnered over 1,500 positive reviews from early adopters.

Players have been quick to praise the title for its immersive pirate atmosphere, spectacular combat mechanics and highly realistic water physics. However, the feedback has not been entirely without criticism. Some sections of the community have voiced frustrations over tedious naval battles, slow game progression and overly simplistic levelling systems.

To address early teething issues, the developers released a comprehensive update on Sunday. The latest patch focused heavily on squashing in-game bugs and resolving the server connection problems that had plagued the game during its initial surge in popularity.
