Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a formal meeting in Moscow on May 8 to strengthen their strategic partnership and review the implementation of previously established high-level agreements.

The diplomatic talks commenced with the two presidents exchanging mutual congratulations to mark the 81st anniversary of the World War II victory. Following the commemorative formalities, the leaders shifted their focus to the continued development of the broader strategic alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.

A significant portion of the dialogue centred on trade and economic relations. Both presidents acknowledged a steady growth in bilateral trade turnover. They also evaluated the progress of numerous joint initiatives currently being advanced across key economic sectors, specifically highlighting collaborative efforts in industry, energy and metallurgy.

Beyond national economic strategies, Mirziyoyev and Putin discussed avenues for expanding direct cooperation between specific regions within their respective countries. The diplomatic meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to maintaining and enhancing ongoing cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two nations.
