AC Milan Sacks Manager Massimiliano Allegri Following Disappointing Serie A Campaign

AC Milan has officially dismissed head coach Massimiliano Allegri following a deeply underwhelming campaign in the Italian top flight. The decision was finalised after the Rossoneri suffered a frustrating 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari in the 38th and final round of the Serie A season.
The defeat served as a bitter conclusion to a difficult year for the club, which ultimately finished in fifth place. In contrast, fierce city rivals Inter Milan claimed the league title, followed by Napoli in second and Roma in third.
This marks the end of Allegri’s second stint in charge of the Milan squad. He returned to the San Siro dugout last May, having previously managed the team from 2010 to 2014. During his initial tenure, he successfully guided the side to the Supercoppa Italiana in 2011 but struggled to replicate that early success in the years that followed.
After his first departure in the summer of 2014, Allegri was replaced by former Milan stalwart Clarence Seedorf. Allegri then moved on to manage Juventus before making his comeback to Milan last year. Ultimately, his return lasted just 12 months before the club’s hierarchy decided to make a change.
According to the sports valuation platform Transfermarkt, the current AC Milan squad is worth approximately €483.5 mln. Despite this substantial financial backing, the team’s inconsistent performances and failure to secure a top-four finish have forced the club to seek new leadership.
