American media reports indicate that Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have ended their relationship after nearly three years together.
According to U.S. magazine People, the couple separated quietly and amicably several months ago. A source stated that the pair made the decision to part ways after careful consideration but remain supportive friends.
Representatives for both actors have been approached for comment.
Romance on set of Wicked
The 32-year-old pop star and the 34-year-old actor first met in 2023 while filming the two-part cinematic adaptation of Wicked in the UK. Grande starred as Glinda in the Wizard of Oz prequel, while Slater played Boq Woodsman.
During the course of their relationship, both stars finalised divorces from their previous spouses. They made their romance public on Instagram in 2024 and subsequently attended various promotional events together for Wicked and its sequel Wicked: For Good.
Both actors received critical recognition for their roles in the musical adaptation. Grande earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress, while Slater and the rest of the Wicked cast were nominated for outstanding ensemble performance at the Actor Awards. Slater is also known for his Tony-nominated Broadway debut in SpongeBob SquarePants.
Return to touring and music
News of the split emerges as Grande begins her long-awaited Eternal Sunshine tour, which kicked off last weekend. The live dates mark her first tour since 2019 and arrive three years after the release of the Eternal Sunshine album.
Fans are also anticipating her forthcoming album Petal, which is scheduled for release next month and features the new lead single Hate That I Made You Love Me.
Despite her return to the stage, Grande has increasingly focused on her acting career in recent years. In November, the singer announced that her current run of live shows would be her last for a considerable amount of time.
