South Korean entertainment agency Belift Lab confirmed on Thursday that Evan, previously a member of the popular K-pop group Enhypen, has finalised the details for his solo debut.
The singer is scheduled to release his first digital single, titled Ride or Die, on June 22.
The upcoming release will feature two distinct tracks designed to showcase the artist’s versatility. According to his management, the songs will highlight contrasting elements of his personality and musical style, pitting a sharp and bold image against a calmer and more sophisticated aura.
Evan has taken significant creative control over his debut project. His contributions extend far beyond vocal performance, as he has actively participated in writing the melodies and lyrics, producing the overall sound and directing the visual elements to ensure the project accurately reflects his personal artistic vision.
Stepping out of the boyband shadow
The artist originally entered the music industry in 2020 as Heeseung, debuting as one of the seven original members of Enhypen. During his time with the group, he established his songwriting credentials by co-writing several fan-favourite tracks, including:
- Highway 1009 from the band’s third studio album Romance: Untold
- Sleep Tight featured on their seventh EP The Sin: Vanish
He departed the boyband in March of this year to focus entirely on pursuing a solo career. Alongside this major professional transition, he officially changed his stage name from Heeseung to Evan, marking the beginning of a brand-new chapter in his musical journey.
