Albania is emerging as a potential new transit corridor for Uzbek goods heading to Europe. This strategic prospect was a primary focus of recent negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his Albanian counterpart Bajram Begaj during their meeting at the Kuksaroy residence.

The two heads of state engaged in detailed discussions regarding the feasibility of utilising the Albanian port of Durres to deliver Uzbek merchandise directly to Mediterranean and Southern European markets. Officials from both sides noted that enhancing transport and logistics cooperation would significantly broaden bilateral trade networks and unlock fresh avenues for commercial enterprises.

Beyond transit routes the leaders deliberated on broader economic initiatives. The conversation covered strategies to increase bilateral trade volumes, attract mutual investments and launch joint ventures.

The two nations identified several key sectors for future collaboration such as agriculture, green energy, digital technology, geology and tourism.

To ensure these collaborative efforts are effectively coordinated, both parties agreed to establish a dedicated Intergovernmental Commission. The inaugural session of this new administrative body is scheduled to be held in Tashkent before the end of the year.

In addition to economic and logistical advancements, Uzbekistan and Albania expressed a strong mutual desire to deepen their cultural connections. To foster better understanding between their citizens the nations proposed a series of joint cultural initiatives. These planned events include hosting dedicated culture days, film screenings, art exhibitions and live performances by creative ensembles from both countries.
