Spain star Lamine Yamal has revealed that Brazilian forward Neymar, rather than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, is the player he idolises most.

The 18-year-old Barcelona winger made the admission during a recent Q&A, saying Neymar has been his biggest inspiration since childhood. Yamal described the Brazilian as a player he always enjoys watching and credited him with influencing an entire generation of footballers.

While Yamal has repeatedly praised Messi as the greatest player in football history, he has distinguished between the Argentine legend and his personal idol. The Spanish international said Neymar’s style, creativity and flair made a lasting impression on him as a young fan.

Yamal’s admiration for Neymar comes as both players are competing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Spain youngster is widely regarded as one of the tournament’s brightest talents and has already drawn comparisons with some of football’s biggest names.

Despite the comparisons, Yamal has insisted on forging his own path as he looks to help Spain challenge for World Cup glory this summer.
