European Scouts Track Rising Uzbek Football Star Bekhruz Karimov
Uzbekistan national team player Bekhruz Karimov has caught the attention of several major European football clubs. According to reports from Championat.Asia scouts from four different European teams are closely monitoring the promising young athlete.
Representatives from two English clubs alongside one German and one French side travelled to watch Karimov perform live during Uzbekistan’s World Cup match against Portugal. The specific names of the interested teams remain undisclosed at this stage.
Karimov was called up to the senior national squad in the spring of this year specifically to participate in the World Cup. He featured in two matches during the tournament against Colombia and Portugal. Although Uzbekistan suffered defeats in both fixtures Karimov made tournament history during the game against the Portuguese side.
At just 18 years old his appearance on the pitch created a record for the largest age gap between opposing players at the tournament. Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo was 41 years old on the day of the match which resulted in a massive 22-year age difference between the two competitors.
Domestic career and market value
Karimov began his professional journey with Tashkent-based club Olympic in 2023. Two years later he secured a transfer to Surkhon Termez where he has since established himself as a vital squad member. His international career also began in 2023 when he joined the Uzbekistan youth setup before rapidly graduating to the senior team.
As of June 26 the sports portal Transfermarkt values the young talent at €350,000. Since joining Surkhon Termez the young athlete has made 25 official appearances and scored three goals while logging more than 1,700 minutes on the pitch.
