The Uzbekistan national football team has dropped from 50th to 60th place in the live FIFA rankings following their elimination from the World Cup.

According to the latest data from the international governing body, the team lost approximately 49 points during the tournament. This leaves their current provisional total at 1409.73 points.

Uzbekistan now sit directly below Qatar, who occupy 59th place with 1411.07 points. Bosnia and Herzegovina sit just beneath the Central Asian nation in 61st position with a total of 1408.93 points. At the opposite ends of the global standings, world champions Argentina retain the top spot with 1907.41 points whilst San Marino remain at the bottom in 211th place with 721.2 points.

Disappointing World Cup campaign

The slide in the global rankings follows a difficult debut appearance on football’s biggest stage. Uzbekistan finished their group-stage campaign at the bottom of Group K without securing a single point.

Their three group fixtures resulted in successive defeats:

  • A 3-1 loss against Colombia
  • A heavy 5-0 defeat to Portugal
  • A final 3-1 loss at the hands of DR Congo

Across their three tournament appearances, the squad managed to score two goals but conceded 11. These results meant they finished last in their group and failed to progress to the round of 32.

Because these live calculations fluctuate based on ongoing match results, the positions remain provisional. FIFA is scheduled to publish its next official world ranking update on July 20.
