The European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have launched an advanced training programme to help civil servants in Uzbekistan strengthen their skills in data analysis and artificial intelligence, supporting the country’s ongoing public sector digital transformation.

The five-day programme brought together 30 ICT specialists and public service professionals from the Ministry of Justice, Public Service Centres and other government agencies. Participants received practical training in big data, AI applications, data governance, information security and ethical AI use, with a focus on improving the accessibility and efficiency of public services.

The initiative forms part of the EU-funded «Further Improvement of Public Service Delivery in Uzbekistan» project, implemented by UNDP between 2024 and 2029. The €4.9 million programme aims to modernise public administration through digital transformation, institutional reforms and the development of citizen-centred services, particularly in rural areas.

According to the project, around 1,000 civil servants are expected to receive training by 2029, while at least 35 public services will undergo digital transformation to improve transparency, efficiency and user experience.
